Residence Gli Ulivi is a complex with 20 small one-bedroom apartments in a peaceful setting, surrounded by olive trees. The property is only open in the summer and is a good base for a relaxing escape outside of town while being a short drive away from beautiful beaches. Guests can also enjoy delicious breakfasts and barbecue over olive wood.
Beautiful greenery for guests who enjoy the outdoors
The shade of the olive trees and vegetable gardens are among the main draws of this property, and there are scattered lounge chairs and hammocks to enjoy the peaceful, outdoor setting and warm Italian hospitality. The small lobby with lime green walls are secondary to the natural habitat, and the overall atmosphere is casual. The property is lush and green, with lemon trees and scattered colorful flowers.
The complex is off a main road and is a 10-minute drive to Porto Cesareo, a seaside town with many restaurants and bars. It’s about a 15-minute drive to the beautiful beaches of Torre Lapillo, with Punta Prosciutto a bit farther away. Reaching the historic city center of Lecce -- a locale with exquisite architecture that’s been dubbed the “Florence of the South” -- takes 30 minutes by car.
Small, simply-decorated apartments with kitchenettes
The 20 one-bedroom, air-conditioned apartments are small and fairly no frills, with pastel-colored bedspreads and simple wood furniture in addition to kitchenettes and wall-mounted flat-screen TVs. All the apartments, which are a bit thin walled, have covered verandas with tables and chairs overlooking the olive groves. Tiled bathrooms have stall showers and built-in hairdryers.
Breakfast with homemade delicacies as well as fresh herbs and veggies from the property's gardens
The free breakfast includes several homemade cakes and pastries. There are small gardens in front of each room from which guests can pick sage, rosemary, mint, and thyme, as well as two large vegetable gardens with seasonal produce that can be cooked over an olive wood barbecue. (The hosts will also advise you where to buy meat and fresh fish.)
