Rooms facing the street are noisy
The 93-room Hotel Milton Roma advertises itself as a four-star property, but looks and costs like an upper-middle range option. The clean rooms have a few elegant decor touches, such as gold and red curtains, but they're not particularly stylish. Street noise is a common complaint. The location is within walking distance of the Colosseum and Termini Station, but most tourist sights are a bit of a trek on foot. Rates are typically more affordable than at comparable hotels with more central locations, however.
The hotel doesn't quite live up to its advertised four-star status, but it's a perfectly adequate option for the price
The building that houses the Hotel Milton Roma was originally a monastery for 700 inhabitants, but you’d never be able to tell by the interior, which has since been renovated and modernized. A few elegant touches reflect a historic style. The wood-outfitted lobby and bar area have red and gold curtains, tufted leather seating, and a patio. The overall effect feels more mid-range than upscale, however. The venue is more similar to a mid-level business hotel than a charming boutique catering to tourists.
On a busy street with a metro stop, and within walking distance of the Colosseum (but little else)
The Hotel Milton Roma is located between Esquilino, a multi-ethnic area considered to house Rome’s version of Chinatown, and San Giovanni in Laterano. Shops and restaurants abound, and both the Colosseum and the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore are within walking distance. It's around 20 minutes by foot to Termini Station. Other tourist attractions are accessible as the Termini metro station in front of the hotel, but most are a bit too far for walking.
Clean, modern rooms are on the plain side, but have a few elegant touches
The Hotel Milton Roma's rooms have a few elegant touches, such as gold and red drapery, gold damask bed skirts, and gold damask seating, but are otherwise on the plain side, with white bedding and wood floors. They're clean and sizable, with small flat-screen TVs (though there are limited English channels), free Wi-Fi, and minibars. There are coffee/tea facilities but they do not include milk. Bathrooms have shower/tub combos with handheld showerheads, as well as towel warmers. Note that some guests complain about street noise.
A rare indoor parking garage, but very little else
Guests have access to free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, and a free breakfast with hot and cold items is served every morning. There’s also an indoor parking garage -- very rare in this area of Rome – available for a fee. A bar with cocktails and light fare is on-site. Guests get special rates at a nearby spa.
